The FIA announced on Friday that more will be done to combat quiques in 2023. In addition to these rule changes, it was also announced that the sanctantone will be even more secure. Alfa Romeo team boss Frédéric Vasseur is pleased and thinks that the cooperation between the FIA and the teams is very important.

Guanyu Zhou had such a serious accident at Silverstone that the roof on top of his car broke off. The halo on his car allowed the Chinese driver to survive the accident, where he slid upside down on the track and through the gravel for dozens of meters. Miraculously, Zhou walked away from the accident unharmed, but it was clear that the car's halo did not help protect the driver.

Along with other rule changes, the FIA reported that the anti-tunnel should be made safer: "The teams have confirmed that it is possible to introduce stricter rules regarding the anti-tunnel in 2023. The FIA has carried out the relevant analyses and informed the teams of the new requirements for the safety of the curtain wall. Meanwhile, the team itself is still conducting its own investigation into the accident and the broken part.

As-web.jp quotes Vasseur: "We are still investigating the accident and sharing all information with the FIA. The first problem was that the crash was twice as hard as the normal crash test. To improve safety, we have to improve on our side and continue to work with the FIA."

Vasseur still wants to focus on the positive. There are no major consequences for the drivers involved, despite the scale of the accident. Vasseur is pleased that no fuel leakage occurred: "That would have been the worst case scenario.
