Since the first week of testing, it has been clear that the Formula One teams suffer from kicks, where the car bounces on the straights because of the high pressure created in the car. The ticking gives a tremendously uncomfortable feeling and the teams have been working hard to solve this.

Almost everyone has managed to do it, except Mercedes. The effect was so extreme in Baku that the FIA has issued a technical directive to reduce the kicks. A good development according to many, but AlphaTauri team boss Franz Tost has a different opinion.

"If the cars are too hard, if it is too hard for them (the drivers), maybe they should stay at home, in the living room, sitting in a chair, and they can do their racing there," Tost said at a press conference in Canada. According to him, it has been known for a long time that the cars would be difficult to drive and that such problems could occur.

"Now the drivers are complaining about it. I can understand that it's not so easy for them, on the other hand, this is a Formula One car, not a Rolls Royce," concluded Tost, who on the other hand hopes that the FIA's technical directive will clarify exactly how big an impact the kicks have on the driver's body.

The AlphaTauri boss also confirmed that Pierre Gasly has a 100% chance of staying with the team in 2023. The Frenchman has a contract with Red Bull for another year.
