Lance Stroll is having a tough season in Formula 1 in 2022, and the lack of adaptation to the new car of the category has taken its toll on the Canadian - who has struggled to overcome his own Aston Martin teammate, Sebastian Vettel. And Lawrence Stroll's son acknowledged what the problem has been: he is still not confident inside the AMR22, one of the most unpredictable cars in F1 at the beginning of the year.

"We're always learning, but I feel like on my part, I want to get to a more comfortable place with the car," Stroll explained. "I still feel like I'm not fully confident in the car, feeling very precise and predictable inside the car," he pointed out.

Stroll commented that his performance in previous years was higher than 2022 precisely because of the issue of adaptation to the car. Frustrated with this year's underwhelming results, the Canadian prefers to focus on continuing to work with the team so that confidence in the Aston Martin single-seater comes naturally.

"I think I still need to keep working to get back to where I was last year, or the year before," he assessed. "When it was just more predictable and more comfortable. And at that point, it's a little bit difficult for me. I need to keep working with my engineers to try to solve this," he stressed.

Asked if the problem was the AMR22 setup, Stroll couldn't answer. The driver even considered that the setup may have some influence in his difficulty, but he criticized the rigidity of the new cars as one of the main problems in adapting.

"I think it's the characteristic of the car," he replied to Autosport. "They are very stiff, and maybe the setup. I'm not driving the other guys' car, so I don't know. But we need to keep working and understanding, because it's definitely more challenging this year than the last few just to get in a good place and a good pace, that kind of thing," he closed.
