Clearly it is not Schumacher's season yet, but in Canada, he managed to qualify in a nice P6. However, there are many stories in the German media about Schumacher's future.
For example, he is said to be linked with a move to Aston Martin, and Oscar Piastri and Antonio Giovinazzi are being promised a seat at Haas in 2023. "It's all coming from the German media trying to pressure him. I just told him to ignore that and get on with racing," Steiner told Sky Sports.
Schumacher has yet to score a single point this season, while his new teammate has done so three times. Kevin Magnussen is also often faster in qualifying.
Steiner also threw oil on the fire earlier, stating that Mick should no longer crash so often, but now shifts the blame to the media. "For the media everybody has an opinion and I respect that. In the end we run the team and we need to do what we do," he said.
"Everybody was pretending that I had a bad relationship with him. That made it uncomfortable for everyone. Mick and I get along very well," Steiner concluded.
