Fernando Alonso led the Speed Trap table at the Formula 1 Azerbaijan GP on Sunday (12). Seventh in the race in Baku, the Spaniard attested once again to the Alpine's straight-line speed - he had already done it by being the fastest driver in the third sector in free practice - by taking home the symbolic title of author of the fastest speed recorded in the Azeri round of the category: 332 km/h.
His teammate Esteban Ocon is third on the Speed Trap chart with 326.5 km/h. In between is Guanyu Zhou. This time with a good performance, but once again forced to abandon due to a problem in his Alfa Romeo, the Chinese driver posted a top speed of 328.9 km/h on the streets of Baku.
Kevin Magnussen and Sebastian Vettel rounded out the top-5 in the Speed Trap on Sunday in Azerbaijan. Winner of the race, Max Verstappen is sixth with 325.5 km/h, ahead of Alexander Albon, Lance Stroll, Nicholas Latifi, and Mick Schumacher.
Verstappen's teammate and second place in Baku, Sergio Pérez appears in 11th position on the top speed chart, with 322.2 km/h. The 'Czech' is ahead of Yuki Tsunoda, Lando Norris, and Pierre Gasly, in order.
In 15th place in the Speed Trap is Carlos Sainz, who abandoned the Azerbaijan GP on the ninth lap, with a hydraulic problem. Charles Leclerc, who also dropped out, was 18th: 316.7 mph. In between were Valtteri Bottas and Daniel Ricciardo.
Finally, the Mercedes duo closes the list of top speeds. Lewis Hamilton and George Russell were 19th and 20th, respectively: 316.7 km/h and 312.4 km/h. Could this be a consequence of the German team's quiques on the main straight in Azerbaijan?
