Sergio Pérez had the fastest speed achieved during last Sunday's British GP. The Mexican driver was in second place
The 2022 Formula One British Grand Prix was historic. This past Sunday (3), the world's premier motor racing category saw its best race of the current season take place, certainly, but also one of the best in recent years. It had it all at Silverstone: strong crashes, a fight for victory, beautiful overtaking, and the title contenders far from the podium. In the end, Carlos Sainz won - his first F1 triumph.
However, in an inversely proportional way, the Spaniard was last on the Speed Trap list of the race in England. The fastest recorded speed was Sergio Pérez, second in the race, with 332.6 km/h.
Teammate of the 'Czech' and championship leader, Max Verstappen had problems with his floor and was unable to fight in the front group. Still, the reigning world champion was fourth in the Speed Trap: 328.9 km/h. In between the two Red Bull drivers are Nicholas Latifi and Lance Stroll.
After the top four, the table of fastest speeds recorded at Silverstone has the Haas duo Mick Schumacher and Kevin Magnussen, in order. Lewis Hamilton comes in seventh, with a top speed of 326.9 km/h, ahead of Valtteri Bottas and Charles Leclerc. Esteban Ocon completed the top-10.
Lando Norris, Yuki Tsunoda, Daniel Ricciardo, Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel, and Pierre Gasly are the drivers immediately ahead of last place Sainz, who recorded a top speed of 315 km/h.
Speed Trap, of course, disregards the three drivers who had accidents early in the race: Guanyu Zhou, Alex Albon, and George Russell.
The 2022 Formula One season returns next week in Spielberg for the Austrian GP on July 8-10.
