Schumacher will have no Haas upgrade in Hungary

Mick Schumacher will not have the long-awaited Haas upgrade package in his car at this weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix.

The American team's single-seater is the least updated on the grid this year, but f1-insider.com reported that there are only enough new parts for Kevin Magnussen.

"We will barely have spare parts for a car," Haas boss Gunther Steiner admitted, amid suggestions that sidepods and the floorpan will be the focus of the upgrade. "We had a lot of accidents this year, so we used all our materials."

The implication is that as the most crash-prone Haas driver, the German is responsible for his wait for a faster car until after the summer recess.

"No problem for me," Schumacher said at Paul Ricard. "Budapest is a track that should favor us. So even without the new package, it could be a good weekend."

According to Steiner, Haas is not hesitating to take only one updated car to Hungary "so that we can analyze everything during the summer recess."

However, there is other bad news for Schumacher, with Steiner saying that a grid punishment will be inevitable because the German's three-engine allocation is already almost exhausted.

"If we are not forced to do it there, we will not make the switch in Budapest," he said.
