The pressure on Mick Schumacher was mounting after his hard-fought crash at the Monaco GP, but after getting through the treacherous Baku track unscathed in the next round, the Haas driver did very well in Canada, earning his best ever start in Formula 1 with sixth place on the grid. The Haas driver had a great qualifying in Canada, achieving his best ever starting position in Formula 1 with a sixth place on the grid. A result that, according to the German, is proof that he deserves his place in the world's top motor racing category.

In the session that defined the starting grid for the ninth round of the F1 World Championship, Schumacher posted a 1min23s356, 0s6 ahead of teammate Kevin Magnussen, with whom he shared the third row. In the race, the German had a good pace and it seemed that, finally, he would score his first points in F1, but he had to retire due to problems in the Haas car.

"Of course it is important to have a good result. But it's also something to build on. And, you know, it just proves to everyone that, yes, I'm here for a reason," emphasized Schumacher, who also said after the session that he had hoped for more, but that traffic on the track had prevented him from seeking an even better grid position.

The race, however, ended in a far from expected way, but this time through no fault of the driver. And he did not hide his frustration for the lost chance. "We baked the cake, we just couldn't put the icing on it," said the young German.

After a promising start, Haas has not scored a point since the Emilia-Romagna GP. The team remains with the 15 points earned by Kevin Magnussen until the race in Imole and occupies the penultimate position among constructors in 2022, surpassing only Williams.
