Mick Schumacher came in sixth in another double-points race for Haas, which also had Kevin Magnussen in eighth place at the Austrian GP
Mick Schumacher won the vote for driver of the day at the Austrian GP, carrying Haas to an excellent sixth place. As in England, in this Sunday's race (10), the American team had double points, with Kevin Magnussen in eighth place.
Schumacher valued the result in Austria and also the performance gain in relation to Saturday, in the sprint race. The German highlighted Haas' double score, which had Magnussen also in the top-10.
"Fighting with Lewis again was fun. I felt quite different from yesterday, also because I understood the tires better. Already at the beginning of the race I had understood that it would not be a one-stop race, because of the behavior of the tires, the winds were different too. It was a tough race, but to score points with both cars after Silverstone was a great result, everybody has to be very happy in the team. To be the driver of the day, chosen by the public, is great," he said.
For Magnussen, this is an important response from the team, just like at Silverstone. The Dane also said that he suffered with an engine problem the whole race and was on the razor's edge regarding a retirement.
"What a great weekend for our team, it was very good. We finally had a bit of luck, it was kind of a rarity after four or five unlucky races we've had. It's hard not to get rattled by that, but we had luck in the last two races and also pace, especially this weekend. I had engine trouble the whole race, I was praying that it wouldn't blow up. It didn't, so thankful that I finished the race without any problems. We had great qualifying, sprint, and race, very happy," he explained.
Magnussen is 11th in the Drivers' World Championship with 22 points, while Schumacher is up to 15th, having scored 12 times in the last two races. Haas moved up to seventh, overtaking AlphaTauri in the Constructors' table.
