Carlos Sainz was far from having the good result in England at the Austrian GP. Trying to achieve a double for Ferrari, the Spaniard was closing in on second-placed Max Verstappen when he had engine trouble in his F1-75 on the 58th lap. He stopped the car in the exhaust zone and had to get out quickly, as it started to catch fire.

Sainz recalled the scene after the race and reported that he found it strange that the stewards took so long to help him out of the car. The 27-year-old driver was unable to stop and, as he was on a sloping part of the circuit, he had difficulty leaving the F1-75.

"It was very strange," Sainz said in an interview with Germany's Sky Sports. "I saw the fire in the rearview mirror and was a bit surprised that nobody came quickly to help me. At one point I had to jump, even with the car moving. It's not ideal and we'll see what we can do in the future," he added.

It was Sainz's fourth crash of the season. He even makes use of his third power unit already, which is already making the Maranello squad vigilant.

"It's not ideal, we have to look more closely at the problems. Especially since it cost us a lot of points this time. That's how things work, but I'd rather have a car that breaks than a slow car that doesn't break," he closed.

While Charles Leclerc narrowed the gap to leader Max Verstappen by 38 points, he is now 37 points behind Carlos. In the Constructors' World Championship, Ferrari is second with 303.
