Carlos Sainz was involved in a scary moment at the Austrian GP when his engine failed and set the rear of his car on fire. Fortunately, the inspectors were soon there to help the Spaniard and he is fine, but it was a complete surprise to him.

"I just knew there was a problem as soon as it happened, there was no feedback from the engine that this was about to happen," Sainz told Sky Sports after the race. "It was very sudden. I'm a bit speechless. A big loss of points for the team, it was an easy double."

Despite being involved in the scary incident, Sainz was looking at the positives and was keen to highlight them, but also made it obvious that the damage witnessed doesn't help matters.

He added: "(There is) a lot of damage, which is not ideal. It's something we need to look at because the pace was there today and the degradation of our car, because we were fast. I will accept that and turn the page as soon as possible."

He finished by showing his sadness at the result and how much could have been gained in the Championship race. "We were about to narrow Max and Red Bull's championship lead, and one of the cars didn't finish. It's heartbreaking, but we need to keep pushing," he concluded.
