To finally win his first triumph in the category, Carlos Sainz emphasized the need to speed up the adaptation process to the F1-75, Ferrari's car for this season

Carlos Sainz is aware of what he needs to do to get back on track for the 2022 Formula 1 season. Unable to adapt to F1-75, but based on his good performance last year - when he finished ahead of Charles Leclerc in the Drivers' World Championship - the Spaniard has made it clear that he needs to improve his pace to finally win his first victory in the category.
"I just need to be a little bit faster. I need one or two tenths in terms of qualifying and race pace. If I find those tenths, which I found in the second half of the 2021 championship...the sooner I do that, the sooner the win will come. I'm working hard to find them," revealed Sainz.

"You can see from the cameras and everywhere, that I'm still not 'there' with the car compared to last year. I'm not driving it naturally. The car is a little too 'punchy' for my taste, but that's the way it is, that's the way things are. You can adapt or bring the car closer to your personal taste," he analyzed. "These two things take time and demand knowledge and experience. It needs trial and error, and I'm in the middle of this process now. I will try to correct it as soon as possible," he clarified.
Sainz also talked about the opportunity to drive the Ferrari car for 2022, his first "really competitive" model. The Spaniard highlighted the fight in the front pack and again focused on his adaptation to F1-75.
"I'm enjoying it, it's a new experience. For me, it's the first time I have a really competitive car. It's a different scenario, I'm getting used to it. I drive against two or three guys who have been at the front of the pack before," he said.
"You have to drive in a different way. I've learned a lot of things, which I will apply for the rest of the season. The sooner I adapt and find my rhythm with the car, good things will come for sure. There are many races to go yet, a lot of time in the championship, so everything is open," Sainz concluded.
