Carlos Sainz will start from P3 for the Spanish GP. The Spaniard again finished behind teammate Charles Leclerc and rival Max Verstappen. However, the local hero hopes that a lot can happen during Sunday's race.
"It's been a tough weekend so far. The conditions have not been the easiest with the heat and wind. Today we did a good lap so we can fight from third place tomorrow," said Sainz after qualifying.
The Spaniard will be looking to get a good result in his home race after all the bad luck of the last few races. During Q2, Ferrari came out with used tires, but Sainz could not set a good time. Therefore, he will have to start the race with a set of used tires. Leclerc has an advantage with a new set of tires.
"I think tire management will be the key and we will see if we can get a good start. From there we will move on. I think tomorrow anything is possible. We will do our best to get ahead at the start and lead," commented the Ferrari driver.
"It wasn't an ideal qualifying, because I couldn't do a decent time on the used tires, so we'll lose the new tires for the first stint tomorrow," finished the Spaniard.
