After 150 starts, Carlos Sainz finally managed to win his first Grand Prix. It was not without controversy, but in the end the Spaniard won at Silverstone ahead of Sergio Perez and Lewis Hamilton.

Sainz takes his first Formula 1 victory after a tremendous race in England. For a long time it looked like Charles Leclerc would take the win, but a delayed Safety Car and a change to soft tires helped the Spaniard to get his first victory.

"I don't know what to say, it's incredible. First win after 150 races with Ferrari at Silverstone. I can't ask for more. It's a very special day. A day I will never forget. A very special weekend in general," Sainz said after the race.

"It wasn't easy, I struggled a lot with the balance especially in the first stint with (medium) tires. Max (Verstappen) forced us to push hard at high speed. I locked up the front left tire," the Ferrari driver continued.

"Even with all that I still believed that it could still happen. Then, suddenly, the Safety Car gave me the opportunity to come back. You can imagine the nerves at the start, keep going and then win," Sainz added.
