Carlos Sainz had to abandon the race early for the third time this season in Azerbaijan. Within ten laps, he suffered brake problems, after which he parked his car alongside. He then reacted logically disappointed in front of the Sky Sports camera.
Sainz started the race from fourth position and managed to maintain it until his abandonment. "It's a shame, because I was very careful with my tires in the first 9 laps and I had a bit of clearance to get some fresh air in the tires and I was about to start my race and start accelerating," said the Spaniard.
Not only did Ferrari have to deal with Sainz's car problems, but Charles Leclerc also had to drop out. This left the Italian team without a driver on the track at the end of the race and allowed Ferrari to focus early for the next race in Canada.
"The team knows that and we know we need to improve. On my side we were unlucky, it's hard to gain momentum on my side. You need laps to understand the car and I had 9. It's a shame. We are a team and we will stay united because better days will come," Sainz concluded.
