George Russell revealed that Mercedes was not bucking during the Canadian GP, in an update that sounded positive enough. The Briton maintained his record of finishing in the top five in every race this year, coming home fourth in Montreal, and it looked like the W13 had decent race pace.
In fact, Lewis Hamilton finished third to crown a turnaround from the start of the weekend, where he called the car "unplayable." Clearly, there is pace in Mercedes, but it's all a matter of finding the right set-up for it and they hope to evolve at Silverstone next time.
Promisingly, Russell revealed that they didn't suffer any bumps with the car in Montreal, and it was only the jump problems with the floor height that were an issue.
"It was definitely wavy out there. We weren't bouncing, we were just bouncing a lot on the straights, just hitting the ground, so it will be a good night's sleep again tonight for sure!" he stated.
Mercedes will obviously not be counting on an advantage, as previous good races have been followed by dropouts, as in the case of Barcelona and then Monaco, but every time they get a result like this, they will feel that they are on the right track.
Silverstone will be in two weeks then, and they hope that the smooth track surface will be useful and allow them to adjust the car in a way that allows a good performance.
