George Russell has revealed that there are ongoing discussions about the future of F1 regulations due to problems causing pain to drivers. Mercedes seems to be struggling with this the most, with Lewis Hamilton having trouble getting out of the car at the end of the Azerbaijan GP.
The Azerbaijan circuit features an extremely long straight, which meant that the drivers were bouncing around for a long time each lap. Russell explains how brutal it is and confirms that negotiations are underway on how to make changes to the regulations.
"Nice to be on the podium because in the end you need to be there to get it right. That's what we did. It's exactly what we have to deal with at the moment and we as drivers have to accept that," Russell told Sky Sports.
"There are no short-term changes, but there are discussions going on about the long-term future of these regulations. We'll see. We have a lot of engineers and brilliant people in this sport and they will find a solution," he continued.
"I don't know what the solution is at the moment, at the end of the day, most are in the same boat as us. Jumping up and down, and hitting the ground or not and you run with the car millimeters off the ground and hitting lap after lap," the Mercedes driver concluded.
