Mick Schumacher is not ready to race in a top Formula One team, according to his compatriot Nico Rosberg.
Schumacher, son of Rosberg's former Mercedes teammate and seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher, had a difficult start to the 2022 season.
However, he improved significantly with two consecutive finishes in the points in England and Austria - the first of his F1 career.
"Mick has had a difficult few weeks and we are all happy that he has got a good head start now," Rosberg told .
"When I open the newspapers these days, I read absolutely no criticism of him. The way things change so quickly is the craziest thing in our sport."
"He only needed one race and one duel with Verstappen for everything to be forgotten. Psychologically, this is incredibly valuable for him because he is now finding a positive mental spiral that he will take into the next races."
However, although Schumacher's chances of having his Haas contract renewed have apparently increased, boss Gunther Steiner says he will only consider this in the summer recess.
And Rosberg does not agree with the idea that Schumacher is even ready to transfer to a bigger team.
"I don't see it that way," he said. "He still needs time in his development. The last races have shown that. He should take it easy before he targets a top team.
"We saw that with George Russell, who raced three years at Williams and then was ready to move up to Mercedes. There is no need to rush things."
