Daniel Ricciardo reiterated that there is still a lot of work for McLaren in Hungary, but smiled with the result on Friday (29)

McLaren brought updates for the Hungarian GP, which takes place this weekend. And the results of the first day of activities were positive, with both drivers riding in the top-10 in both sessions. One who left with a good feeling was Daniel Ricciardo, although he acknowledges that there is a ceiling to be reached.
"I think we were competitive this morning as well, so being competitive in both sessions, hopefully says something and that we really are," he said. "I don't think we're competitive enough to fight for a pole. But we got the floorboard right and we'll analyze what happens with the car tonight," he added.

The Hungaroring is known for being a narrow and braked circuit, which calls for a medium aerodynamic load setup. That's what Andreas Seidl's team worked on, and that's why the Australian believes it can be a good move.
"I have no reason to say we can't fight at the front tomorrow, but it's only been a week since the French GP, you can't change [the car] too much," he explained.
"Maybe the track will help us a little bit more and I'm sure we've made a step, but probably not that big. Still, it was a very good day," he closed.
