Ricciardo reinforces desire to stay at McLaren: "I don't think about anywhere else

The Australian driver also stated that he will continue in Formula 1 as long as he believes he can be world champion

After stating that he has no doubts about his continuity at McLaren, reinforcing his contract with the team until the end of 2023, Daniel Ricciardo has again revealed his desire to continue at the Woking team - even with Zak Brown's public criticism.

The team CEO admitted disappointment with the Australian, stating that Ricciardo has "not lived up" to McLaren's expectations. Still, the 32-year-old driver preferred to point out that structural changes are on the way for the team - which reinforces his desire to remain at the Woking team.

"There is no team or teams on my wish list. I am conscious that I have moved a lot in the last few years, so stability within a team sounds more desirable to me. Also, McLaren has things on the way, like the wind tunnel and a new simulator, that I know will benefit the team," Ricciardo told RacingNews365.com.

"I want to use the word 'tremendously,' but I don't know the scale - however, for sure, these things will benefit the team. I certainly want to be part of that as well, so I don't think about being anywhere else," he added.

Ricciardo has already won a victory with the team, in 2021, at the Monza circuit. The Australian made it clear that the triumph is "incredible," but the main goal remains: to lift the World Drivers' Cup trophy.

"The main goal now is to win a title, for sure. A win is amazing, but not enough. So there is unfinished business in terms of wanting more, but also in terms of sportsmanship," he said.

"As long as I still believe that I can have what it takes to be a world champion, then I will continue in the sport, because I'm not happy with eight wins. I am proud, but I am not happy," Ricciardo finished.
