Red Bull stresses importance of halo in Zhou accident: "He would not survive".

Red Bull consultant Helmut Marko acknowledged the importance of the halo in Guanyu Zhou's scary accident at the British GP

The British GP was marked by the very strong accidents of Alex Albon and Guanyu Zhou. The Chinese Alfa Romeo driver was hit by George Russell's car right at the start, and crashed into the tire barrier. The #24 C42 still crawled a few meters upside down on the track. A frightening scene, and a driver again saved by the halo. After all, Zhou came out unscathed.

Red Bull consultant Helmut Marko has had his issues with the imposition of the halo on Formula One cars. However, after analyzing the condition of Guanyu's car, he changed his mind.

"We didn't see detailed div for a long time, which is usually a sign that something bad is happening," he said in an interview with Servus TV, "But then we got the message that it wasn't so bad," he added.

"You have to say it's really thanks to halo. There's no way Zhou would have survived without it. But this also shows how well the FIA is developing safety," he followed.

Marko also explains that the body responsible for F1 always takes quick action to prevent accidents from happening again in the future. This is thanks to the advancement of technology, he said.

"We can't talk about a sensitive point here, because every accident is different. The FIA reacts very quickly. What happened here will not happen again in the near future," he opined.

"The statistics also show that, as the last fatal accident was in Suzuka, where a car ended up under a crane," Marko said, referring to Jules Bianchi's fatal crash in 2015.
