Red Bull boss Christian Horner again criticized the spending cap and argued that costs have increased exponentially in Europe compared to the time of the deal

The 2022 Formula 1 season is underway, the races are over, but the subject remains the same: the much talked about spending cap for this year. Once again, the person responsible for addressing the topic was Christian Horner - a staunch advocate of the FIA increasing the limit initially set.
Red Bull's boss, the Briton argued that inflation has hit all ends of Europe - due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine - and that teams cannot control the rampant increase that the situation has caused in spending.

"The way in which you design your car is within your control," Horner told broadcaster Sky Sports. "That is something that you, together with your group of designers, create. You control your own destiny. What we are seeing in the world at the moment, we are not in control of the inflationary costs that are affecting households around the world," he explained.
Horner even cited the rising cost of living in England, which is predicted to increase in inflation, and said that this rise directly affects what is spent by teams on various fronts. Earlier, the Red Bull boss had already said that he fears seeing the championship "end up in a court of law," as a large part of the teams suffer from the limit set by the FIA.
"In the UK, we are seeing inflation forecast to increase by 11 percent," the Red Bull boss continued. "That has a direct effect on staff, materials, electricity, goods, the parts. I genuinely think it's a compelling event that the FIA needs to deal with," he opined.
The next round of the 2022 season marks the return of Formula One to Europe: the British GP, the traditional round held at Silverstone, is scheduled to take place between July 1 and 3.
