Red Bull highlights "incredible" Pérez and praises Verstappen who "fought like a lion

Red Bull had a very troubled race in England. On Sunday (3), the Austrian team saw its two drivers involved in incidents from the start, but, in the end, still saved a second place with Sergio Pérez. Max Verstappen, with his car in tatters, was seventh.

Christian Horner, team boss, pointed out that the very strong crash at the start ended up messing with Verstappen's strategy and also knocked the Dutchman off the top spot.

"First of all, it's great to see that Zhou and Albon are doing well after that. It was horrible, a crash right at the start like that. For Max, it's a pity, because he started very well, but then the red flag came out and wiped that out and also changed strategies. But we had good pace today, yes," he said.

The Briton explained that the problem in Verstappen's car came from debris on the track. Horner, however, highly valued the result that the Red Bull youngster still achieved.

"Max started to open up in the lead, but then he hit debris on the track and was full of damage underneath the car, that caused him to lose half the downforce on the floorboard. And it got worse. To the point that we were fighting with Aston Martin and Haas. Then the safety car came, we put soft tires on it and it fought like a lion. This seventh place can make the difference up front," he continued.

Horner also praised Pérez, who had wing damage at the start, fell to the back of the pack, and still came in second, beating Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton in a hard-fought battle at the end.

"Pérez also did a great job, he came out from the back and went to the podium, amazing result. We had a good car. Frustrating that we didn't get a double podium. Happy also for Sainz's win. Charles took six points from Max, Ferrari took a little more from us, but it wasn't that bad," he added.

Red Bull is still well ahead in the Constructors' World Championship, with 328 points, 63 more than Ferrari. Among the drivers, Verstappen leads the line with 181 and Perez is second with 138.
