While Max Verstappen won the Canadian GP, it was not a good day for Sergio Perez, who abandoned after only eight laps.

According to Helmut Marko, Red Bull has already identified the cause of the problem. "It was the gearbox that broke," he told the Austrian broadcaster .

"It was at the end of its life, but it should have held up. So we suspect that it could also be a consequence of Saturday's accident, even though he didn't hit anything directly with the gearbox."

"It was unfortunate, but we could see how difficult it is to overtake when you are in traffic like (Charles) Leclerc, even for the best cars."

Marko said there were no similar problems with Verstappen's RB18 and that the only area of concern was brake temperatures.

"We paid a lot of attention to the temperatures, with the biggest concern being the brakes. In the first stage of the race, we were at the temperature limit for the discs and pads."
