Red Bull team boss Christian Horner was pleased with the performance of winner Max Verstappen and the recovery of Sergio Pérez
Red Bull came out on top in the sprint race at the Austrian GP. Although Ferrari's infighting allowed a bigger gap, Max Verstappen had excellent pace and calmly managed the 23 laps of the short race. His teammate, Sergio Pérez, also did well: he started from 13th position after being punished and finished fifth.
That's why Christian Horner, the taurine's boss, spread a long smile. The Briton was pleased with the performance of both drivers.
"It was a very controlled race from Max, so we are happy with that. And it was a great recovery by Checo. He almost came back to the position where he qualified, so overall it was a decent speed race," Horner said in an interview with Sky Sports.
Like Verstappen, Horner also stressed the importance of preserving the tires. It was with this concern that the Dutchman was able to manage his race well to finish smoothly.
"I think they didn't push the tires so much at the beginning of the stint. They were a bit faster at the end, so I think we wanted to break the DRS gap quickly. Max broke on the second flying lap, so we had a different approach," he continues.
