Red Bull announces the RB17, a £5 million hypercar

Red Bull has revealed plans to launch its own £5 million hypercar in 2025.

As part of an ambitious project unveiled at the team's Milton Keynes factory on Tuesday, the car is being created by Adrian Newey, the team's Formula 1 technical chief.

The two-seater hypercar, developed for track use, will have a strictly limited production run of 50 units and is being designed for maximum performance.

The ground effect car will be driven by a hybrid turbo V8 producing over 1100 hp, and the goal is for it to have a performance similar to that of an F1.

In addition to owning the cars, collectors will have access to Red Bull's simulator, vehicle development program and track training.

Team boss Christian Horner said, "The RB17 is an important milestone in the evolution of Red Bull Advanced Technologies, now fully capable of creating and manufacturing a series production car at our Technology Campus."

"In addition, the RB17 marks the first time that a Red Bull branded car will be available for collectors."

Newey added: "The RB17 refines everything we know about creating championship-winning F1 cars into a package that delivers extreme levels of performance in a two-seater car for the track."

"Driven by our passion for performance at every level, the RB17 pushes the technical and design boundaries far beyond what was previously available to enthusiasts and collectors."

"It's tremendously exciting," Horner said at an event at Red Bull headquarters in Milton Keynes on Tuesday. "We've been on this journey together for 17 seasons now. It feels like the next chapter for the company, the business and what we're doing."

"It's been quite a journey so far. We also have the Powertrains division up and running, Advanced Technologies getting stronger and stronger, and this incredibly exciting car."

"With this car having true F1 performance, it seemed right that it fit into that lineage and had the name RB17."

"It's great to see that Adrian's enthusiasm hasn't waned one bit for a project like this, which is also great for the whole company."

"One frustration of working with partners is that you weren't in control of your own destiny, so it's good to apply F1 methodology and deadlines. With this, we took control of our own destiny."

"It's a bold project, but everything Red Bull does is pretty bold. It's tremendously exciting to be in charge of this project from start to finish without being a client, which is unprecedented for us."
