Red Bull admits "dominance" in F1 2022 and nudges Ferrari: "It's on the edge

Red Bull scored its sixth consecutive victory in the 2022 Formula 1 season during the past weekend, when Max Verstappen held off pressure from Carlos Sainz to win the Canadian Grand Prix. It was the team's seventh win so far this year - in nine rounds played. At the head of the Drivers' and Constructors' World Cups, sports consultant Helmut Marko explains the secret: not to break any more.

"The main thing is that you need to complete [the races] and avoid these reliability problems," Marko said in an interview with the Autosport website. "We also had the sprint race, which helped us get more points. We have an unbelievable streak now," the Austrian boasted.

"Normally, in the first half of the season, we were chasing [the lead]. Today, we are dominating," he continued. "You have to admit that if you win seven races in the first nine, that's dominance," Marko pointed out.

Marko also took the opportunity to poke fun at rival Ferrari, which has suffered from problems in some of its recent races - Barcelona and Azerbaijan, for example. According to the Austrian, running the single-seater "at the limit" can lead to pit stops and the consequent loss in the championship.

"Reliability is always a concern if you have a car that is very much at the limit," Marko stressed. "You see that at Ferrari. The only one that hasn't had a technical abandonment yet is Mercedes, but they have had to lift [the car] in some races because of overheating issues," he added.

The next round of the 2022 season marks the return of Formula One to Europe: the British GP, the traditional round held at Silverstone, is scheduled to take place July 1-3.
