Sergio Pérez was very discrete in free practice at Paul Ricard, which hosts the French GP, but managed to improve and get third in Saturday's qualifying (23)

After being very discreet in free practice for the French GP, Sergio Pérez did a good session in qualifying this Saturday (23) and will start third. The Mexican was 0s4 behind pole-position Charles Leclerc and was relieved to have a good lap time in what he called the "worst weekend" so far.
After qualifying at Paul Ricard, Pérez called his third place "a good recovery," although he did not give details about the kind of difficulty he faced with the car. "It was a good recovery. I was nowhere to be found all weekend, really."
"It was my worst weekend until qualifying, and I was able to recover well. For tomorrow, the goal is to beat the red cars. They were strong today, no doubt," highlighted the #11 Red Bull driver.

As for the Ferrari rivals, Carlos Sainz will have to pay a penalty for changing his engine and will start from the back of the pack. The biggest challenge will be to beat Leclerc, who had the most in qualifying and achieved his seventh pole out of 12 possible in the 2022 season.
