The Red Bull driver had his lap deleted - and then reinstated - in Hungarian qualifying practice and also complained about Kevin Magnussen's blocking. Still, 'Czech' said he is rooting for "strong scoring" at Hungaroring

Pérez sees "very unfortunate" qualifying, but believes in recovery in Hungary

It was definitely a forgettable Saturday for Sergio Pérez. Without showing much pace throughout the whole Formula 1 weekend in Hungaroring, the Red Bull driver didn't even manage to qualify for Q3 of this Saturday's qualifying session.

"It was very unfortunate. My time was deleted for track overrun, then reinstated. Then at turn 2, I ran into Kevin (Magnussen) right on the line (of the track), so I had to dodge him - and I went very deep into the corner. I lost a few tenths, which I couldn't recover afterwards," explained 'Checo'.

Even with underperformance so far in F1 action for the Hungarian GP, Pérez said he believes in a Taurine reaction in the 13th round of the 2022 calendar.

"I hope that tomorrow, in the race, we can recover and can go after a strong score here," he said. The 'Czech' will start from 11th position, while his teammate Max Verstappen - who also had problems - will start from 10th.
