Red Bull driver said that qualifying practice "wasn't ideal, but on the other hand, it wasn't that disappointing". The 'Czech' was disappointed with the result because he believed there was potential for more
Not even the guaranteed second row on the starting grid for the Formula 1 British Grand Prix cheered Sergio Pérez. After qualifying this Saturday (02), the Red Bull driver stressed that more was capable of more in qualifying, but was still hopeful for the race at Silverstone.
"(Qualifying) was not ideal, but on the other hand, it was not so disappointing. I was with (Lance) Stroll right in front of me, so my last two laps were not ideal - maybe we could get more out of them. But as I said before, I think we can fight from there," said Pérez.
After Friday's free practice sessions, 'Checo' explained that the RB18's performance was "miles away" from what had been prepared in the simulator and blamed a failure in terms of aerodynamics. Now, the Mexican driver has stated that the Taurinos have definitely fixed the issue and that there is therefore hope for the race at Silverstone.
"We have definitely identified the problem and I hope that tomorrow in the race we can be more competitive," he concluded.
