In a race in which Max Verstappen suffered from RB18 bodywork problems, it was up to Mexican Sergio Pérez to take Red Bull to the podium at the British GP, held this Sunday (3). The 'Czech' left the fourth position on the starting grid and took advantage of the misfortunes of the defending champion and Charles Leclerc to emerge in second position at the end of the race, in what represented his sixth podium of the season.

Celebrating the result, Pérez also highlighted the fight he had with Lewis Hamilton, eager to take the Red Bull driver's position - but who had to settle for third place, in a race in which his teammate also had problems.

"It was a great fight with Charles [Leclerc], with Lewis [Hamilton], I felt during the race that I had the position. It was exciting laps at that end," he said, before explaining his touch with Leclerc early in the race, which caused him wing damage.

"I got squeezed, with Charles on the inside and Max [Verstappen] on the outside," he said. "From then on, we had damage to the wing and I had to stop to change it," explained Pérez, who had to climb the entire pack to earn a podium place - at the end of the race, he was even voted 'Driver of the Day' by the public in the category's official poll.

"I changed [the wing] and fell to last place, but it was a great recovery from there," exclaimed the driver. "We never gave up and kept pushing. We were pushing until the end, and it was an epic battle between us," celebrated #11.

Formula 1 returns next weekend for the Austrian GP at the Red Bull Ring, scheduled to take place between July 8 and 10.
