"A day of testing several different things": this is how 'Czech' defined Red Bull's Friday at the Hungaroring. The taurine driver was also very optimistic that the free practice sessions will provide a "good understanding" for the rest of the weekend
Sergio Pérez was only 6th in TL1 and 9th in TL2 this Friday (29), but there is no panic scenario - quite the opposite. On the first day of Formula 1 action at the Hungaroring for the Hungarian GP, the Mexican stressed that Red Bull's priority was the suitability of the 'Czech' himself to the taurine bolide.
"It was a day of testing several different things, to get comfortable with the car. We had a good idea, a good understanding of how the day went - so hopefully tomorrow we can show what we learned today. We should also turn the rhythm from full tank to empty tank. I'm quite optimistic, but certainly Ferrari looked very strong here," Pérez stressed.
Red Bull was already expecting a strong Italian squad in Hungary - as the F1-75 always had an advantage in the downforce aspect, while the RB18's main quality, the straight-line speed, does not prove as useful on the Hungaroring layout.
For this very reason, Pérez emphasized cheering for an element that could shuffle the order of forces in this qualifying practice Saturday: rain.
"They (Ferrari) are definitely very fast. I hope it rains tomorrow, so that things are more in the 'mix'. I also hope we can duel with them. It should shake up the field quite a bit, and I'm looking forward to it," said the 'Czech'.
