Police find thieves of Leclerc's watch

The criminals who took the €2 million watch from Charles Leclerc's wrist have been found.

The criminals who took the €2 million watch off Charles Leclerc's wrist have been found.

Between the Melbourne and Imola races, the Ferrari driver was in the Italian town of Viareggio when "fans" asked for his autograph on a dimly lit street before robbing him.

However, the thieves got into trouble because the rarity and exclusivity of the watch - a limited edition Richard Mille RM 67-02 - made it almost impossible to sell.

The Italian daily reported that the three criminals tried to sell the watch in their usual circles, but no one wanted to take the risk with such an obviously stolen and identifiable object.

In fact, the watch apparently even had a personal dedication to Leclerc.

The police investigation revealed that the criminals had a lavish dinner in Tuscany immediately after the theft to celebrate.

The police allegedly already knew the thieves at the time of the incident.
