Indian driver Jehan Daruvala will drive a Formula 1 car for the first time. Despite being a member of the Red Bull youth team, he will drive for McLaren at Silverstone on June 21-22.

Daruvala will drive the MCL35, the car used by the Woking team for the 2021 season and responsible for ending a winless streak the team has had since 2012. The test is part of a McLaren program designed to test the team's previous cars.

"I have never driven a Formula One car before. This test, for me, is to learn the car, its characteristics and find its limits. My goal is to win the Formula 2 title, and I hope to do enough to get my name noticed," Jehan declared.

At 23 years old, Daruvala is in his third season in Formula 2. In the 2022 championship, he is in third place with 73 points. He has five podiums in twelve races so far.

Interestingly, the next Formula 2 race is in Silverstone, England, on July 2 and 3, serving as a support for the Formula 1 World Championship.
