Better for the team
So a great starting position can translate into a lot of points. Obviously, the Frenchman is happy. "This is my best qualifying of the year," he said. "I don't think we could expect anything better for the team. It's great that we have both cars in the top 10 today."
Gasly praised AlphaTauri's work. The car runs like a train on the long straights of Baku. And who knows where P6 will take him at the end of the race. Gasly's thoughts go back to last year. "Everything is possible here in Baku, we saw that last year with our podium."
Hard tires
Still, caution is needed. Gasly knows that in Baku it is very easy to make mistakes and yellow and red flags have happened regularly during races in Baku. "We have one set of hard tires, while other teams have two. So about the strategy, we have to think carefully. But today I am very happy with our overall performance."
