Sergio Perez says he sees no problem in obeying orders from Red Bull.
Recently, shortly before renewing his contract for two years, the Mexican said that opening the way for his teammate Max Verstappen was "unfair".
"I had a good conversation with the team," he commented in Montreal when asked about the controversial orders.
Perez says he now trusts his team's strategic decisions "100 percent". "I would do whatever they asked me to do," he insists. "I don't see why that wouldn't make sense."
Indeed, he is in the prime of his long Formula One career, admitting that 2022 is proving "even better than I imagined, to be honest."
Although they are separated by just 21 points in the world championship, Perez insists that there is a "good level of respect" between him and Verstappen.
"It's a big challenge for me to have him as a teammate," he admitted.
However, the Mexican wants to pursue the title anyway.
"If I was here thinking that I want to finish second, I should stay home. I am here because I want to win and I believe I can do that."
"I think I pilot at an extremely high level. Maintaining that level every week throughout the season is what will open the door to fight for the championship."
"Being in contention, thinking about the championship and that every point counts is a great challenge and a huge opportunity in my career."
"We always think that we have to make the most of the opportunities we are given. That's what I did," Perez stated to .
"However, even without these years with Red Bull, I would still have been very proud of what I have achieved in the sport because I gave everything I had."
