Sergio Perez has revealed that he suffered an injury in his crash in qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix.
The Mexican hit the barriers in the treacherous Q2 conditions, and as a result started 13th on the grid.
He abandoned the race after only eight laps due to a gearbox problem.
To make matters worse, Perez says he also suffered a neck injury in his incident in qualifying.
He had to slightly alter his preparation for the British GP because of the pain, but is recovering well.
"The beginning of the week is always difficult after such a bad day, but I'm fine," Perez told .
"I am recovering from a neck injury because I suffered a strong contracture in the crash. It was hurting quite a bit, but overall I'm fine, everything is fine."
"Now, I'm working on the strong contracture I had in my neck and I'm not doing any other exercises, just physical therapy for my neck in order to be 100% for Silverstone."
"Every race is different because your body is in a different state all the time. There are times when you need to do more aerobic, strength or endurance exercises."
"So you always work on different things. On consecutive weekends, it's a very regenerative recovery."
