Alcohol flowed freely at Red Bull Racing and especially for Sergio Perez after the Monaco Grand Prix. A video surfaced of the Mexican who, after his victory in the principality, appeared to have drunk so much that he needed help getting down a ladder from a boat. Perez himself has already come out with a response.
On his Instagram, Perez posted a statement, "I saw the videos that circulated about me and I take responsibility for them. It was an out of control party. I was out of control, but that's all it was, an out of control party."
The 32-year-old driver faced considerable criticism on social media last week. Perez recently became a father to his third child and critics felt that it was all wrong what Max Verstappen's teammate was doing. The number three in the championship felt compelled to respond.
"People close to me know my values and know the kind of person I am. For those who ask me, my wife and I are closer than ever. For the people who only want to hurt us, I wish them the best," the Red Bull driver continued.
"I thank everyone for their affection and I apologize to all the people who love me, because those videos don't represent me at all," concluded Perez, who wants to quickly forget the moment and get back to thinking about the things that matter to him.
