Perez: No "jealousy" with Verstappen

Sergio Perez says that some of his former teammates were envious, but with Max Verstappen, they seem to be happy with each other's success.

In an interview alongside Verstappen at , Perez stated, "I think sometimes in the past there was envy of the teammate.

"Because obviously you want to win, but when the guy next to you wins, you have to give him credit, he was better, you have to accept it and also feel proud of what he did."

"I believe not many people can accept that, but between us, when I win or Max wins, we always feel proud for the other and I consider that good."

Verstappen acknowledged that his relationship with Perez is the best he has ever had with a teammate in Formula One so far.

He pointed out that he also got along well with Daniel Ricciardo when the two were together at Red Bull between 2016 and 2018, but feels he has matured a lot since then.

"Of course, I started very young in F1 and I think I also had a great relationship with Daniel," Verstappen commented.

"However, I was still 18 or 19 at that time and I think I'm a completely different person now."

"So, I would say that my current relationship with Checo is definitely the best just because I have matured a lot. I think that helps a lot in our interactions."

Perez closed with good humor, telling Verstappen that "I think you were a little more difficult when you were younger."
