Sergio Perez says he feels more comfortable in the current Red Bull Racing car. The driver joined the team in 2021 and has struggled to adapt. The Mexican himself says that things are much better this season and he immediately notices a good base when qualifying or the race starts.

Last season, there was a big gap between Perez and his teammate Max Verstappen. That gap seems to have closed more this year. The Mexican driver has beaten his teammate several times in qualifying and won the Monaco Grand Prix.

Perez is currently second in the championship, 46 points behind Verstappen. The most important thing for Red Bull is that he is able to take points off rival Ferrari. Perez says that the good performance is due to the feeling he has in the car.

"I'm definitely more comfortable with the car than last year," the Red Bull driver told the RaceFans website. "For example, it took me a little longer to adapt to the car last year. This year I can already feel from TL1 that I can start working on the car instead of working on how to exploit the car to the maximum. So that's a big difference in the weekend."

Last season, Perez had many problems especially during qualifying. The Mexican didn't always make it to Q3 and the gap to Verstappen was getting bigger and bigger. This year he has confidence in his car.

"When I go into qualifying I am much more prepared and likewise when I go into the race I think we have a good platform. I'm confident with the car and I know what I have to do with the team to make the most of it," Perez concluded.
