Sergio Perez was the only driver to cause a red flag in a wet qualifying session this afternoon when he crashed into the wall at turn three. The Mexican is aware of his mistake and is ready to make amends at the Canadian Grand Prix tomorrow.

"Tomorrow we will try to limit the damage and attack from the first lap and see where we end up," he told Sky Sports after the session.

Perez was struggling to compete with his teammate Max Verstappen, who took pole position, but was still placing his car in the top ten in Q1, however, the mistake in Q2 ended his session early and means he will start 13th tomorrow.

The Red Bull driver highlighted the accident as his own mistake, stating, "I made a mistake on my side, so I feel sorry for my team. I let them down, unfortunately, and I'm already thinking about tomorrow to recover and get into strengths."

He finished by explaining how the weather affected his car's performance and potentially was one of the problems that led to him crashing. "I was struggling with the brakes, I think they were on the cold side. I had braked in turn 10 on the previous lap and affected (the tires), which probably meant I was out of shape in turn three," he concluded.
