The Frenchman achieved his best result of the season in Canada, defended himself better than anyone else from Leclerc's pressure and even had time to help Alonso against Bottas

Esteban Ocon was one of the great characters of this Sunday's race (19) in Canada, which ended with victory for Max Verstappen. The Alpine Frenchman's sixth place, together with Fernando Alonso's ninth place, resulted in the team's best result of the season.
The ten points added would have been 14, were it not for the Spaniard's punishment for dangerous driving in the final laps of Montreal. But still, Esteban celebrated too much the performance of his Alpine. "I'm very happy, the team did a great job on the car, on the strategy, in general, everything well managed."
The best moment of Ocon's race was the defense over Leclerc, who stayed a good part of the Canadian race behind trying to overtake, which only happened after the safety-car was called.

Ocon was also responsible for helping his teammate in the fight against Valtteri Bottas for seventh place. "I am happy that I could have helped Fernando [Alonso] at the end with the mobile wing, to keep him behind."
The Frenchman pointed out that the result was an excellent step forward in the Constructors' World Championship. Alpine is in fifth place with 57 points, just eight behind McLaren, and this is the fiercest fight in the championship. "There is still a lot to discuss and learn regarding how the weekend unfolded, but the most important thing is to maintain this momentum and continue delivering good performances in the upcoming races."
Formula One returns in a fortnight to contest the British Grand Prix, the tenth round of the 2022 season, at the Silverstone Circuit.
