Lando Norris complained about an annoying situation at the end of the Azerbaijan GP with Daniel Ricciardo, but said he understood the intention and that he is happy for the points gained by McLaren

The Azerbaijan GP brought delicate situations for McLaren with its drivers. In the middle of the race, Daniel Ricciardo approached Lando Norris, but was instructed to keep his positions. In opposite situations at the end of the race, it was the Briton's turn to hear over the radio that he should stay behind his teammate and secure the points.
Norris was not exactly happy with the situation on the radio. After the race, Lando complained about the annoying situation on the track, but explained that he was happy to do what was best for the team and that it was only fair to help Ricciardo after his teammate failed to attack him in the first half of the race in Baku.
"He helped me in the middle of the race and it was only fair that I helped him, or didn't overtake him, at the end. It's just annoying, you never want that. Especially if there's no risk or worry at the end, it was just me against him. But I played the team game and I'm happy with that," the Brit told the F1 Nation podcast.

In the end, neither of the two McLarens managed to get close to Fernando Alonso's Alpine and fight for the seventh place. Ricciardo finished eighth and Norris ninth, scoring six points for the team. The result does not excite the Briton, who has great aspirations in Formula 1, but he knows that this is not the time to think only about himself yet.
"It was eighth or ninth, it doesn't matter to me, I don't really care. I'm just here to win races and win a championship, and I'm not going to win the championship this year. Instead, I have to worry about getting the most points for the constructors. The more we have, the more money we will have for the team to invest in good things," said Lando.
Formula One returns this weekend for the Canadian Grand Prix, which is back on the calendar after two years away due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
