Formula 1 introduced a new regulation in 2022 hoping to reduce the turbulence generated by the cars and thus generate closer disputes on the track and, consequently, facilitate overtaking. However, the current season has not lived up to expectations, with little excitement in the races so far. Arriving at Silverstone for the British GP, McLaren's Lando Norris hopes that the characteristics of the track will help highlight the major differences of this new regulation.

"Silverstone is always a great weekend in itself, Formula One cars racing at Silverstone is always something spectacular. I think the racing this year has generally been better. Maybe not on tracks with just long straights," analyzed the British McLaren driver.

"But at circuits where you have those long corners, like Silverstone, I think that's where you can see the big differences from previous years. I hope that makes sense and that we will have better, more enjoyable contests," Norris concluded.

Lewis Hamilton also has a similar opinion. Another home driver, the six-time Formula 1 champion also expects a better race, with more opportunities for overtaking. The only difference in the Mercedes driver's experience remains the fear of being hindered by the kinks in the high-speed corners at Silverstone.

"Silverstone is still one of the best circuits, if not the best, in terms of having all the medium- and high-speed corners, and the high-speed corners are always the most fun. With the cars we have today, if you look at Barcelona, we had problems with quiques in the high speed corners, so maybe it won't be spectacular, but hopefully by then we will have fixed that. I think for all of us it will be amazing. We can follow more closely, so hopefully the race will be better," Hamilton said.

The Formula One cars will take to the Silverstone track for the first time in free practice on Friday (1). The British GP is scheduled for July 3, with full coverage by GRANDE PRÊMIO.
