Mick Schumacher is still waiting at Haas for his first point in Formula 1. Although the talented driver is therefore struggling at the American team, Toto Wolff in an interview with German RTL does not rule out the possibility of Schumacher racing for Mercedes in the future.
As the son of Michael Schumacher, there was a lot of pressure on Schumacher's shoulders from the very first Grand Prix. In his first season, however, the Haas car was not good enough to get to the points. This year, in some races, he looked like he would be able to do that, but he still hasn't been able to break free.
Wolff states in the interview that people should not judge Schumacher's performance too quickly. The Mercedes team boss believes that the driver has shown progression in recent months and that he will continue to grow in Formula 1. "I am convinced that he can do it," Wolff emphasized.
Schumacher is not yet ready for a top team in the near future, but behind the scenes Ferrari seems to be hoping that the driver could switch to the Italian team in a few seasons. Wolff does not rule out Schumacher getting into a Mercedes car one day. "Why not?" he questioned.
