Mercedes confirms W13 upgrades for Silverstone: "We will give our best effort".

Mercedes technical director Mike Elliot said the team is determined to fight at the top with Ferrari and Red Bull already at Silverstone. "We want to get back to winning ways," he said.

In its race against time to solve the problems that still hinder the performance of Lewis Hamilton and George Russell in 2022, Mercedes has confirmed that it will take updates to the W13 to Silverstone, stage of the next round of the Formula 1 calendar. According to the German team's technical director Mike Elliot, the aim is to boost the car's development to fight with the frontrunners.

At the Canadian Grand Prix, Mercedes managed a good performance gain even with the car a bit higher and finished third and fourth with Hamilton and Russell, respectively. But the main progress of the weekend was to have jumped far less than seen in previous stages - even Toto Wolff himself confirmed that porpoising is no longer a problem. The clicks that still occur in the W13 are due to the stiffness of the car.

"You can be sure of one thing: we will try as hard as we can," Elliot assured in the post-race video. "We're going to take new parts to Silverstone, push the car forward looking for some pace not only from the package we have, but also from the upgrades we're going to add to the car," he added.

But despite the good expectations, the technical director is aware that Ferrari and Red Bull are still ahead, with Mercedes coming next. "We have to be honest with ourselves. In a normal race, I think it will be difficult," he continued, saying finally that he is betting on a more favorable scenario for the Brackley-based team in England in the same way as it was in Spain.

"I think Silverstone will be a circuit that suits us a bit more, like Barcelona, but we might have a bit of difficulty. Whatever happens, we will try our hardest. Our drivers will try their hardest, because we want to win again. We want to win for the team and also for you, the fans. Let's see what's going to happen," he closed.
