Mercedes adopts special logo in June to honor LGBTQIA+ Pride Month

LGBTQIA+ Pride Month is also part of the Formula One universe, and Mercedes will change its logo to show support for the community. For the next three races - in Azerbaijan, Canada, and England - the German team will change its traditional emblem, the three-pointed star, for a colorful version called the 'Rainbow Pride Star'.

The aim of the team - which has won all of the last eight World Championship Drivers' Cups and looks close to losing its position at the end of this year - is to raise awareness of LGBTQIA+ Pride Month and what it stands for, between June and early July. Thus, the W13s piloted by Lewis Hamilton and George Russell will carry the new symbol on the beak of the car.

In addition, the same star will be present on the helmets of the two starting drivers of the team in the next three races, as well as on the social networks of Mercedes and other companies that are part of the German group.

Finally, the team will also carry out a series of internal and external activities - the symbol on the drivers' helmets is one of them - to raise awareness about the issue as part of the 'Accelerate 25' program.

The goal of the program, founded in December 2020 with strong influence from Lewis Hamilton, is to combat inequality and discrimination through awareness campaigns in one of the most exclusionary sports in the world - the seven-time champion, for example, is the only black competitor on the grid.

The first appearance of the colored Mercedes symbol will be this weekend in Baku. The Azerbaijan GP is scheduled to take place between June 10 and 12.
