Mazepin dreams of a F1 comeback and nudges Schumacher: "Results speak for themselves

Four months after his abrupt resignation from Haas due to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Russian Nikita Mazepin still keeps hope that he can return to the Formula 1 grid. The driver had his contract with the American team terminated, as well as the link that the team had with its sponsor Ural Kali, of which Nikita's father Dmitry is a major shareholder.

In an interview with Russian broadcaster MatchTV, Nikita is still betting on a "miracle" of a return to Formula 1. The Russian driver competed in 21 races in the 2021 season for Haas, finishing with no points and 21st in the Drivers' World Championship,

"Miracles happen. I will be behind the wheel at the first opportunity. It's hard to say, four months ago, I couldn't imagine that so much would change. And I can't imagine that everything will be right in four months, but I hope so," he declared.

Mazepin also revealed that he has not received contact from any person at Haas after his sudden dismissal, but cited that he does not hold grudges from mechanics and employees of the American team.

"Why didn't anybody contact me? I don't know. But if a mechanic or someone I worked closely with was fired, I would send in the message on WhatsApp regardless of my behavior towards him and the management," he followed.

Nikita also took the opportunity to poke at former teammate Mick Schumacher, who has remained at Haas for 2022 but has yet to score any points this season, while Kevin Magnussen has amassed 15 talents after the 8 races played.

"I would probably say that the results speak for themselves. I don't have anything else to add," he concluded.
