Kevin Magnussen and Haas have struggled in recent weeks, but the Dane qualified fifth in Montreal.
"I am really excited and looking forward to the race," he smiled at . "I would like to win tomorrow, but we have to score points. Starting fifth made it a little easier. We don't have to hold fifth position, but it made the job easier."
Magnussen did not hide his satisfaction with the performance in the treacherous conditions, adding, "I am very happy for the team. Mick (Schumacher) also did a great job and got sixth. We started in P5 and P6, it's a great effort by the team.
The Haas driver explained that the team expected a strong performance on the wet track, as it is one of their strong points.
"That's what we expected. We saw in Imola that we like these conditions and today we completed the work. The important thing was to continuously try to do better laps because the track was getting better and better. So you had to push all the time."
