Without scoring points since Imole, Kevin Magnussen said that Baku's race history is littered with safety-cars and red flags, which could be a factor in getting Haas back into the top-10 in the race

Magnussen hopes possible chaos in Baku brings "extra opportunity" to score

The last time Kevin Magnussen scored a point in the 2022 Formula One season was at the Emilia-Romagna GP. Since then, the Haas driver has had a series of setbacks, but believes that history has everything to be different at the Azerbaijan GP, which hosts the eighth round of the World Championship on Sunday. As the races in Baku are usually busy - not to say chaotic - the Dane hopes to benefit from some circumstance to score again.

So far, Magnussen has 15 points and occupies tenth place in the standings. "Baku is a lovely track, very unique, with long straights and slow corners. I'm looking forward to it," said the driver, who didn't complete the last race, held in Monaco two weeks ago, due to a power unit problem.

"There is always a lot of action in Baku, and there is a high risk of yellow flags, safety-cars etc. Historically, there have been many safety-cars and red flags. It seems that Baku always provides extra opportunities than is seen on average in races," added the owner of the #20 car.

Aside from the possible chaos, another Haas strength, in Magnussen's opinion, is the Ferrari engine, and he believes the unit's power can make a difference on the long straights of the street circuit. "I hope it will be good. It's long straights, we have a good Ferrari engine, so I don't foresee any problems."

"[Baku] It's a power-centric track because of the long straights, that's very important," the Dane concluded.
